Kayla’s Story:
Well, my tattoo, which is three separate tattoos, is about my family, as well as being a tribute to my father.
The start of my tattoo will be the blue dot. I got that first, and it was given to me by my dad. After some time of only having the dot and honestly getting tired of it being so simple, I wanted to put more art around it.
Having a love for snails and a fascination with fungi, I got the idea of having a snail to represent my dad and three mushrooms to represent my two siblings and me. I really loved the idea of having the center of the shell around the dot, as I didn’t want a cover-up; I wanted to bring out the color and make the “simple” pop! The tallest mushroom is my big sister, the mushroom to the left is me, and the one to the right is my little brother. Now we are finally all together, figuratively speaking.
The final addition to the piece is my father’s signature, underlined with his birth and death dates. My dad is my hero, being a single father raising three kids. He did his best, and I will always love and respect him for that.
